Rita Fournier Barnett

Rita is an experienced transactional attorney, primarily in the areas of intellectual property and general corporate matters.

Prior to coming to Whalen LLP, Rita was an associate at Latham & Watkins and also served as independent counsel for several companies involved in telecommunications, software development, and streaming technology. She has represented numerous companies in large commercial contracts, including patent, trademark, and related technology licensing agreements, outsourcing agreements, software-development and professional services agreements, co-venture agreements, and Internet-based agreements. She has helped companies develop their Internet privacy and service level policies, conducted intellectual property related due diligence, and assisted in the merger and acquisition of technology based companies.

In addition to practicing law, Rita is also a legal writing professor at Chapman Law School.
